Overview
This role involves joining a team building the operational and regulatory foundation for a new banking entity. The Bank Controller will report to the Bank CFO and lead the day-to-day operational work of the bank accounting function, including integration of accounting systems and processes and development of the regulatory reporting function.
Responsibilities
- Team leadership & talent development: Build and lead the bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as the function is established.
- Cross-functional partnership: Act as a primary liaison with cross-functional teams, ensuring effective service delivery under the Intercompany Program Agreement while maintaining independent oversight required for a regulated banking entity.
- Financial reporting: Oversee monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Regulatory oversight: Build a controlled regulatory reporting function to support timely and accurate preparation of required filings, including:
- FFIEC 041 Call Reports
- Part 363 Annual Reports
- Federal Reserve reporting
- Audit management: Coordinate with external auditors to complete the annual bank financial statement audit.
- Process automation: Partner with engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement tools that drive accounting and reporting automation.
- Strategic analysis: Manage additional processes and functions, including financial analysis and projects as required.
Requirements
- Accounting designation such as CPA or CA
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or Treasury-related areas
- Minimum 5 years of people management experience
- Experience building and scaling accounting tools and processes in a similar industry
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting
- Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience
- Extremely detail oriented with strong critical thinking
- Strategic, goal-driven, with a “can-do” attitude

- Base pay grade: M
- Equity grade: USA 10
- New hires typically enter at the start of the pay range.

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $185,000 - $245,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $164,000 - $224,000

Location
Remote-first with flexibility built in. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment. Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an office, and some are office-based due to the nature of the work. All new hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience.
