Overview
The Senior Manager of Global Payroll is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s global payroll operations. This position ensures timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing for employees across multiple countries and regions.
The Global Payroll Director partners with Finance, HR, and external partners to optimize payroll processes, maintain compliance with local regulations, and drive strategic payroll initiatives that support business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Global Payroll Operations: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all international locations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed payroll team. Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and support continuous professional development.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure payroll processes adhere to country-specific labor laws, tax requirements, and organizational policies. Stay current on regulatory changes and implement necessary process updates.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices and process enhancements to increase payroll accuracy, efficiency, and automation across all regions.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, technology vendors, and consultants. Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Audit and Reporting: Oversee internal and external payroll audits, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Prepare and present comprehensive payroll reports and analytics to executive leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll with other business processes and systems.
- Project Management: Lead and participate in global payroll projects, including system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and process standardization initiatives.
- Employee Service: Resolve complex payroll issues and inquiries from employees and management, delivering service and communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience may be substituted for formal education. (Master’s degree preferred.)
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 5 years in a global payroll leadership role. (US and India experience strongly preferred.)
- Extensive knowledge of international payroll practices, regulations, and tax laws.
- Experience with Workday Payroll, Absence, and Timekeeping SKUs.
- Demonstrated success managing payroll teams across multiple countries and time zones.
- Strong project management skills, including experience leading large-scale payroll initiatives.
- Knowledge of SOX controls, GDPR, and audit processes.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $130,000 – $170,000
- Pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
- This position may also be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, commission, or other variable pay plan.
- Benefits include medical, dental, and 401k.
