Overview

A high-growth enterprise software company is seeking a Senior Revenue Manager to join their Revenue Team. This role can be based in Austin, Palo Alto, or New York City. The primary responsibilities include determining appropriate accounting treatment for new product offerings, analyzing complex revenue transactions, refining revenue recognition policies, and providing guidance on technical revenue accounting issues. The role also involves participating in month-end and quarter-end close activities and leading a small remote team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on revenue accounting transactions under ASC 606 and related financial reporting requirements
  • Lead and manage quarterly reviews and year-end financial audits related to accounts receivable, reserves, and revenue
  • Participate in month-end close activities including cash activity, revenue analyses, journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue recognition
  • Manage and mentor a small team of Revenue Analysts, reviewing their work and supporting their growth; hire additional analysts as needed
  • Analyze sales transactions in ERP systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity of revenue schedules, including revenue allocations
  • Review and validate different revenue streams for appropriate revenue treatments
  • Review contract write-ups to ensure revenue recognition complies with ASC 606
  • Assist with preparation and review of executive-level analytics for internal and external presentations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Order to Cash (OTC), Business Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Deal Desk, and Legal on ongoing initiatives
  • Support special projects and ad hoc requests as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CA/CPA preferred
  • Minimum 9 years of experience in a similar role at a public, high-growth SaaS or technology company
  • Prior experience with revenue close operations and reconciliation processes, including working with sales data, customer contracts, and product offerings
  • Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
  • Experience hiring, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and handling large volumes of data
  • Knowledge of ERP and CRM systems such as NetSuite and Salesforce
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented, and able to independently drive projects to completion
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills with the ability to work cross-functionally at various organizational levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating effectively in a fast-moving, global environment
  • Strong interest and experience in revenue advisory processes

Success Measures

  • Within 30 days: Become familiar with the business, product offerings, and revenue streams
  • Within 3 months: Independently perform assigned internal systems, operational workflows, and accounting close tasks
  • Within 6 months: Establish relationships with key business partners such as OTC, Business Operations, FP&A, Deal Desk, and Legal
  • Within 12 months and beyond: Serve as a primary point of contact for all revenue-related go-to-market efforts

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range in the U.S.: $106,000 to $209,000 USD
