Overview

The organization is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join its Finance team. This role focuses on international indirect tax, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT). You will work collaboratively with Accounting, Finance, Legal, Product, Operations, and external advisors to support an expanding global business.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Tax Manager with preparation of supporting workpapers and submission of VAT, GST, and JCT filings across EMEA and APAC, using internal and external resources
  • Prepare, review, and maintain VAT, GST, and JCT account reconciliations and provide month-end close support
  • Support the annual financial statement process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
  • Manage and support indirect tax audits, notices, IDRs, and controversy matters across VAT, GST, and JCT jurisdictions, including:
    • Gathering documentation
    • Performing reconciliations and analysis
    • Coordinating responses
    • Maintaining audit trackers
  • Maintain recordkeeping for VAT, GST, and JCT filings, tax notices, audit documentation, and jurisdictional portal activity
  • Monitor international indirect tax legislation for changes, research impact, and help implement necessary updates
  • Research and analyze VAT, GST, and JCT implications of new business initiatives and provide recommendations to mitigate tax exposure
  • Partner cross-functionally with business teams to support implementation of tax requirements for new products, processes, and operational changes
  • Support tax engine, systems, and process testing, including UAT and issue tracking tied to indirect tax-related changes
  • Monitor the accuracy of tax charges and system-calculated tax results; identify discrepancies through analysis and reconciliation; investigate root causes with cross-functional teams and help implement solutions
  • Assist with registrations, annual compliance requirements, special projects, and ad hoc requests from business partners and external advisors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of relevant international indirect tax experience in a corporate environment; public accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of VAT, GST, and JCT regulations and indirect tax compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience with tax account reconciliations, workpapers, and month-end or quarter-end close support
  • Experience preparing supporting workpapers, maintaining tax records, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to research indirect tax issues and apply findings to business operations and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large data sets and transaction-level information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience with tax technology or e-invoicing platforms (e.g., Avalara, Fonoa, or similar)
  • Experience with Power BI
  • CPA or equivalent license preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $100,000 to $115,000 annually (plus opportunities for benefits such as medical and dental, equity, and discretionary bonuses)
  • Compensation is dependent on geography and may vary
