Overview

This role is part of the organization’s Small Commercial Analytics department and focuses on strategic business analysis at the Market and/or Agency level. The position supports driving Commercial Lines (CL) business results through growth and core state initiatives set by the State Manager and RVP.

This is a full-time, exempt role and is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate loss ratio and production trends at the Agency/Micro-Territory level, including root causes and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage portfolio trends at the state, market, and Agency/Micro-Territory level, including identifying outliers requiring deeper dive analysis.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to the State Manager, RVP, and RSD, and influence conversations and decisions.
  • Coordinate and assess results for Agency/Micro-Territory-level reports available across the organization (production, mix, book roll metrics, etc.).
  • Identify monthly/quarterly shifts in results and ensure updates are communicated to State Manager/State Analysts and field leadership.
  • Proactively recommend follow-up analysis where appropriate.
  • Partner with individual State Managers to develop key metrics for success and report monthly/quarterly progress against goals.
  • Support achievement of the annual Commercial Lines plan for loss ratio, premium, new business, profile improvement, and renewal retention within assigned territories.
  • Provide insight and serve as a thought partner to the State Manager to drive strategy at the agency/Micro-Territory level.
  • Participate in rate reviews, including preparation and follow-up analysis, contributing to assessing competitive position and opportunity.
  • Review competitor filings and collect input from the field regarding competitor changes; consolidate insights for entry in monthly reporting.

Requirements

  • Business and financial acumen.

  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate and guide one’s own workload proactively.
  • Knowledge of all Small CL products and state nuances.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, including the ability to synthesize data and apply judgment to interpret and draw conclusions from analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Solid decision-making skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor others.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who can perform with minimal supervision.

Compensation

  • The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience.
  • Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive, or spot recognition awards.
  • The posted range reflects the organization’s ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
