Overview
A growing Client Accounting Services (CAS) department at a well-established Austin-based accounting firm is seeking a Staff Accountant. This role offers the opportunity to work with a respected local firm and develop expertise in accounting practices, client service, and various accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Code transactions accurately, including capitalizing assets and recording expenses
- Reconcile client bank accounts, credit cards, and investment accounts using QuickBooks Online or similar software
- Manage Accounts Payable: enter vendor bills and process payments
- Manage Accounts Receivable: enter client invoices, record payments, and deposits
- Prepare and enter journal entries in client files
- Process client payroll, including EFTPS tax payments and annual forms W-2, W-3, 1099, and 1096
- Prepare and process payroll tax returns (forms 940, 941, 944, and TWC) using various software
- Train clients on QuickBooks Online usage and best bookkeeping practices
- Prepare Forms 1099 NEC and MISC
- Allocate client income and expenses using class tracking and job costing features
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to create and maintain spreadsheets for expense allocations
- Prepare accurate workpapers for review
- Communicate with clients to gather missing information and review accounting files for tax preparation
- Develop skills in preparing Business Personal Property Tax Renditions
- Organize, schedule, and prioritize multiple assignments to work efficiently within budget
- Assist with departmental training and process documentation
- Represent the firm positively through community involvement
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline, or Accounting Certificate
Experience
- Two to four years of related experience; public accounting experience is a plus
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
- Experience with QuickBooks, CCH Axcess, IDEA, CCH Document, Adobe, Depreciation Solutions, and Caseware
- Comfortable using multiple monitors, laptops, copiers, scanners, and printers
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 to $80,000
