Staff Accountant

Overview

A leading organization in the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial strategy, forecasting, and performance management initiatives. This role will enhance business visibility and decision-making by partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to improve planning processes, financial discipline, controls, and resource allocation. The position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise performance and develop scalable financial operations within an Energy & Utilities environment.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $184,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Onboard with the existing Accounting team to understand current needs and setup in Oracle
• Establish a separate Accounting department for a business unit with support from the main Accounting team
• Transition accounting processes into Acumatica ERP by defining business requirements and performing user acceptance testing
• Manage all accounting activities within Acumatica ERP, including revenue, expenses, payroll, and general ledger accounting
• Oversee compliance matters such as income tax and sales tax, coordinating with tax professionals
• Lead treasury management activities, including banking relationships and cash transfers to the parent company
• Mentor and coach junior accountants
• Support strategic finance activities alongside executive management

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience as an Accountant or Financial Analyst
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles and internal controls, particularly within SOX environments
• Proficiency in inventory and cost accounting, tax compliance coordination, and treasury management principles
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP
• Advanced skills in Excel and Google Workspace
• Experience conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) in collaboration with IT teams
