Overview
This remote, computer-based role supports payroll tax operations by maintaining and updating customer tax profiles, managing assigned cases and tasks, researching payroll tax data concerns, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure accurate data and timely resolution across multiple systems.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain assigned customer tax profiles, including jurisdictions, account numbers, unemployment insurance rates, filing frequencies, account statuses, and other employer tax attributes.
- Process accurate and timely tax profile updates within approved systems and tools.
- Manage assigned customer cases and internal tasks from intake through resolution, including prioritization, research, documentation, communication, follow-up, closure, or transfer.
- Provide professional support for tax profile questions, tax-code setup needs, general payroll tax inquiries, and customer-reported data concerns.
- Review employer- and employee-level payroll tax data and research wage, tax, data, or configuration discrepancies within the team’s scope.
- Proactively identify conditions that may affect funding, payments, filings, reconciliation, or customer reporting and initiate the appropriate correction or escalation.
- Use established outreach and escalation processes, set clear expectations, and provide complete handoffs when specialized ownership is required.
- Collaborate across Tax Operations and use Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools to manage work, identify exceptions, and support decisions.
- Meet established service levels, deadlines, quality standards, production expectations, and critical monthly, quarterly, year-end, or ad hoc business needs.
- Protect customer and internal information, participate in training and process improvement, adapt to changing requirements, and follow established values and procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax concepts and multi-jurisdictional requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, compare, filter, and analyze data.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while producing accurate, well-documented work.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll tax outsourcing or managed-services experience.
- Experience in payroll tax, payroll operations, tax data management, or a comparable data-intensive service environment.
