Overview

This role is for a Tax Manager within a private equity partnerships group at a leading advisory, tax, and assurance firm with a national and global presence. The position offers the opportunity to provide tax and business advisory services and tax compliance to private equity clients, working closely with firm leadership to serve clients and contribute to business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor delivering tax, accounting, and advisory services to private equity clients.
  • Oversee accounting, bookkeeping, and preparation or compilation of financial statements.
  • Review and analyze accounting records and reports, provide consultation, and communicate with clients on accounting and business matters.
  • Deliver responsive, timely, professional, and accurate customer service.
  • Lead and plan client engagements, continuously evaluating and improving processes and procedures.
  • Recommend business and process improvements based on client operations and objectives.
  • Manage and build client relationships, act as liaison to resolve client issues, and assist in researching additional services.
  • Delegate and oversee team efforts by setting goals, providing resources, and scheduling deadlines to meet client expectations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax laws and practices.
  • Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billing, collections, and ensure profitability targets are met.
  • Network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients and the community.
  • Invest in professional development individually and through firm-wide learning programs.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in social activities and team outings that encourage work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's or advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA, EA, or JD certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal and state tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services within a professional services firm.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Experience with tax compliance and consulting for the private equity sector preferred, especially with portfolio companies.
  • Strong management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, and maintain ethical standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • National pay range: $91,220 - $172,990.
  • California pay range: $112,500 - $172,950.
  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits package available to eligible employees.
