Overview
This role involves managing end-to-end tax workflows for a portfolio of tax agencies, serving as the primary contact for agency communications and partner inquiries. The position requires handling tax notices, filings, and resolving tax-related issues across federal, state, and local agencies to ensure timely and accurate outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage tax notice issues from receipt through resolution across federal, state, and local tax agencies.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with partners regarding the status and details of their tax notices and accounts.
- Serve as the direct point of contact with tax agencies via portals, email, and phone.
- Identify patterns in tax notices that may indicate systemic issues and escalate appropriately.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in payroll tax, tax operations, compliance, or notice resolution.
- Experience with agency communication and operational or filing work.
- Comfortable communicating by phone and in writing with tax agencies and partners.
- Familiarity with federal (IRS/SSA), state, and local tax agencies, with the ability to research and navigate unfamiliar agencies.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple open issues across agencies without oversight.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to escalate issues thoughtfully and own outcomes through completion.
- Curiosity and aptitude for handling unusual or complex tax notices.
Location and Work Policy
- The team is distributed across the United States.
- Positions may be remote, hybrid, or based in offices located in New York City or San Francisco.
- Remote work requires the ability to perform all responsibilities without distraction, maintaining quality communication and productivity.
