Overview

The organization is seeking a Team Lead, Portfolio Management. This position is a Connected Mobile Work Environment position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and day-to-day supervision of the SBA and Portfolio Management Team, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, establishing and tracking KPIs/KRIs, and terminations.
  • Ensure staff is fully trained, cross-training is provided, collaboration and teamwork are reinforced, and ongoing training opportunities are offered.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing credit relationships, ensuring credit quality, soundness of risk ratings, condition of credit files, and adherence to bank loan policy and regulatory guidance.
  • Apply strong knowledge of credit risk management practices and the regulatory loan risk rating scale; identify and escalate recommendations for changes.
  • Complete and document a defined number of loan reviews each quarter for all loans in the portfolio classified in regular servicing status, including preliminary evaluation of financial records.
  • Prepare internal documentation to memorialize material changes to the loan since approval (as applicable).
  • Demonstrate expertise in structuring and negotiating loan agreements, including managing and resolving workout and distressed credit situations to maximize recovery and mitigate risk.
  • Oversee loan presentations or quarterly reviews for the chief credit officer and/or loan committee.
  • Partner with the chief credit officer in preparation for loan committee review.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, credit requests, and servicing requests in a timely manner, consistent with the Small Business Administration’s SOP 50 57 (4) and bank loan policy.
  • Proactively identify cross-selling opportunities through borrower interactions to promote bank lending and deposit products and drive relationship growth and portfolio production.
  • Review daily reports of delinquent loans and take affirmative action to collect payments on past-due accounts to reduce delinquency and non-performing loans.
  • Document customer communications (written and verbal) in designated record-keeping platforms.
  • Conduct reviews of existing loans for compliance, quality, covenant, and exception monitoring, taking timely action for risk rating upgrades/downgrades.
  • Monitor delinquent real estate tax reports.
  • Monitor insurance requirements associated with the loan and determine whether force-placed insurance is appropriate.
  • Review documentation generated by SBA and Senior Portfolio Managers and assist with modifications needed prior to execution.

Requirements

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Literacy in English.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time; twist, bend, sit, walk; use hands to twist, handle, or feel objects/tools/controls (such as computer mouse, keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc.); reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, and kneel; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years relevant portfolio management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow, industry, competition, and projections.
  • Strong knowledge of basic banking products and commercial lending products, with ability to match solutions with borrowers.
  • Excellent process management and improvement skills.
  • Ability to set and monitor KPIs and KRIs.
  • Excellent leadership skills and excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent team management skills.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal direction; strong presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Adaptable to changing job requirements and responsibilities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated annual salary: $115,000 – $135,000. Final employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.
