Overview

This position is fully remote with the occasional time onsite as needed. Work must be performed only from a New England state: ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, or RI.

The Technology Transfer Accountant II is a key member of the Accounting and Finance function of the Belfer Office for the organization’s technology transfer operations. With support from the manager and senior members of the Finance team, this role provides day-to-day post-agreement execution financial management for financial-bearing agreements negotiated by the office, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial information within the organization’s current database.

The role also performs general accounting functions involving preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of accounting records, internal and external financial reports, and accounting policies and procedures. This position supports Finance and Operations management in implementing new or modified accounting systems and in coordinating and preparing for audits.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of financial systems and processes to meet operational goals.
  • Test and learn new workflows and processes to enhance daily operations and data management.
  • Reconcile data within the Minuet database in collaboration with management and partner offices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in preparing interim, monthly, and annual financial reports to monitor income from financial-bearing agreements.
  • Perform budget-to-actual reconciliations and prepare monthly cash reporting for the office.
  • Support the legal accrual process as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reconciliations and analyses for assigned responsibilities and special projects, collaborating with General Accounting and Research Accounting when necessary.
  • Reconcile milestone cash receipts in Minuet against SRA payments recorded in Workday.
  • Track SRA milestones to support timely invoicing and coordinate with appropriate departments as needed.
  • Monitor all receivables, including sponsored research funding and licensing revenue.
  • Work with the office’s Database Manager, Finance team, and, on occasion, other departments to research and resolve data and system discrepancies related to financial operations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field.
  • 3 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or non-profit organization preferred.
  • Workday experience and skills preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles and practices.
  • Technical and professional accounting skills, including strong reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to work in computer-based, automated accounting systems, accounting procedures, and control systems.
  • Ability to proactively define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw informed conclusions, and report findings to Finance leadership.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain favorable working relationships with individuals at all levels in and outside the organization.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills and ability to participate on committees and project teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the organization’s policies regarding management of industry Sponsored Research and other technology transfer office financial matters as appropriate.
  • Ability to multi-task and function as an integral member of the team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hiring range is $74,000.00 - $84,100.00.
  • Individual salaries are determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
  • For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
