Overview

This position is a hybrid/remote role within the organization’s CFO Advisory practice, supporting the Technical Accounting team. While the role is considered remote and does not require duties to be performed near an office, remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

The team supports the office of the CFO function from startups to middle market to upper middle market companies, helping navigate strategic, operational, and accounting challenges. Responsibilities include support for public or private transaction preparation and pre-/post-transaction support in coordination with the M&A group.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prepare external SEC financial statements and filing processes, including drafting financial statements, equity roll forward, EPS calculation, footnotes, and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A)
  • Complete SEC and GAAP checklists for quarterly reviewed and annually audited financial statements, ensuring compliance under U.S. GAAP and applicable SEC reporting requirements
  • Oversee technical accounting research and documentation of new accounting guidance, and the resulting client financial statement impacts
  • Monitor activities of accounting standard-setting bodies, including FASB, IASB, the SEC, and the PCAOB; support analysis of accounting and reporting effects of new standards
  • Research accounting/disclosure requirements of new accounting standards and transactions, considering relevant accounting literature and impacts on client accounting policies and financial documents
  • Work with clients and external auditors to collect and input information into reporting deliverables; coordinate, review, and collect comments on drafts; prepare support files for disclosures
  • Challenge the appropriateness of disclosures; complete relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires
  • Provide training and mentoring across external public company reporting
  • Organize and communicate status related to assignments and projects
  • Proactively engage in business development activities, including expanding client relationships, evaluating new market opportunities, and building relationships on behalf of the firm

Requirements

  • Five (5+) years of related progressive experience in public accounting or a mix in similar accounting fields
  • Proficiency in disaggregating, analyzing, and reconciling consolidated financial data accurately and in a timely manner
  • Understanding of general accounting policies and procedures at a transaction level
  • Direct experience with SEC reporting (Regulation S-X and S-K) and preparation of financial statements and footnotes for public companies
  • Prior experience developing and addressing accounting issues using relevant guidance, applications, and judgments supporting conclusions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Three (3+) years of relevant leadership experience (Big 4 or large regional experience preferred)
  • Experience leading teams and multiple projects
  • Experience with SEC reporting and working with Workiva (WDesk) or similar SEC reporting tools
  • Experience working with general ledger systems and reporting packages
  • Active CPA, CA, or equivalent

Compensation & Benefits

  • Location: New York
  • Salary range for this Manager role: $110,000 to $175,000
