Overview

The organization is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Technical Accounting team within CFO Advisory. This is a remote position.

Most professionals are located within a commutable distance to an office. Even as a remote employee, you may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

This team supports the CFO function across startups, middle market, and upper middle market companies, helping navigate strategic, operational, and accounting challenges. The role also supports public or private transaction preparation and provides pre- and post-transaction support in coordination with M&A.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions:
    • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements; maintain the general ledger; prepare month-end and year-end closes
  • Help direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in accounting tasks; suggest process improvements; produce error-free accounting reports and present results
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budgets; verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivables
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns; direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies; strengthen internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Relevant certification (CMA or CPA) is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting and finance functions and processes
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), including financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes such as cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact professionally at all levels
  • Strong desire and proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures such as cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
  • Highly driven and self-motivated with a hands-on approach to ensure deliverables are produced on time with high quality
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong accuracy and attention to detail and aptitude for numbers/quantitative work
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Ability to work flexible hours in support of the business
  • SAP experience preferred
