Overview
This role supports the office of the CFO function across startup, middle market, and upper middle market organizations. The position is in the Technical Accounting area within a CFO Advisory practice.
Work style: Hybrid firm. While the role is considered remote and does not require job duties to be performed within proximity of an office location, remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.
Responsibilities
- Oversee general accounting operations, including verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements; support month-end close and year-end close activities
- Support and help direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in accounting tasks; suggest improvements to efficiency and spending; produce error-free accounting reports and present results
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Prepare financial statements and support budgeting; verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Assist with tax audits and support tax returns; direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies; strengthen internal controls
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Relevant certification (CMA or CPA) is preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting and finance functions and processes
- In-depth understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), including financial statement preparation and analysis
- Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes such as cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact in a highly professional manner at all levels
- Strong desire and proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures such as cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
- Highly driven and self-motivated, with a hands-on approach to ensure deliverables are produced on time with high quality
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including accuracy, attention to detail, and quantitative aptitude
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and effectively meet critical deadlines
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project)
- Ability to work flexible hours in support of the business
