Overview
This role involves auditing, reconciling, and correcting payroll tax filings across multiple U.S. entities to ensure accurate submission of payroll tax dollars. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Payroll and requires resolving variances and filing amendments with federal, state, and local agencies.
The position is remote, with an expected duration of 3 months, requiring up to 40 hours per week. The hourly rate ranges from $35 to $45.
Responsibilities
- Audit and reconcile approximately 200 federal, state, and local payroll tax filings for five U.S. entities from calendar year 2020 to present, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Research and resolve all identified variances
- Address tax notices and file amendments directly with relevant agencies
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all audits and research performed
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of U.S. payroll tax experience with a large multi-state employer
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
- Advanced Excel skills, including V-Lookup and Pivot Tables
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
