Overview
This role is for a Wealth Transition Services Tax Manager, available across all locations in the United States with flexible work arrangements including remote, hybrid, or in-office options.
Responsibilities
- Review ultra-high net worth Form 1041 tax returns and address technical firmwide 1041 questions, including multi-state filings and complex analyses involving pass-through entities, hedge funds, partnerships, and S corporations.
- Collaborate with tax staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of 1041 tax returns in accordance with firm processes.
- Interpret and review legal documents related to estate and business succession planning, focusing on income tax implications of trust funding and administration.
- Conduct technical research on income tax matters for trusts and estates to support internal clients.
- Assist clients with varying levels of tax knowledge, including family office clients and corporate trust companies.
- Analyze tax situations of individuals and their estates/trusts to maximize tax benefits.
- Manage client relationships both internally and externally by proactively identifying solutions that enhance client experience.
- Participate in business development activities and manage billing responsibilities.
- Assist in preparing marketing materials and presenting internal and external webinar trainings.
- Coach and mentor staff members.
- Collaborate with the Wealth Transition Services team on various advisory and compliance projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Active CPA license, Enrolled Agent license, or JD/LLM with a focus on taxation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in gift, trust, and estate tax within public accounting, law firms, or related fields.
- Expertise in Form 1041 with strong research and tax skills, capable of providing technically sound recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience interacting with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients and presenting on wealth transition topics.
- Strong multitasking abilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
- Experience in business development and networking.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements across the country.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $105,000 - $180,000, dependent on geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
