Accountant (m/f/d) - Remote (Netherlands)

Overview

This fully remote role is based within the Netherlands. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and works closely with the Senior Director of Finance and the Head of Finance.

Responsibilities

Close & reporting

• Perform financial period close tasks, including complex journal entries and accounting analysis
• Conduct balance sheet analysis and reviews, including account reconciliations
• Follow up with vendors/suppliers on missing invoices
• Take full accountability for cost accruals for P&L review
• Reconcile intercompany transactions
• Prepare financial KPIs and review them for accuracy
• Prepare ad-hoc performance analysis and management reporting
• Perform monthly variance analysis of actual vs. plan (budget/forecast)

Compliance & controls

• Prepare and process payroll tax returns, VAT returns, and intra-community (ICP) declarations for local entities
• Lead completion of annual statutory audits, yearly closing of financial statements, and tax filings, along with ad-hoc compliance requirements
• Process payments and bank transfers and ensure approvals are adequate
• Ensure key controls and procedures are respected and implemented where needed

Team & projects

• Support the Head of Finance in overseeing AP/AR analysts, including reviewing work, coaching, and onboarding
• Supervise and assist the team to ensure timely delivery
• Participate in special projects

Requirements

Must-haves

• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Multi-currency and multi-entity experience
• Demonstrable expertise in accrual accounting theory and practice
• Hands-on experience with Dutch GAAP
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• Fluent English
• You live in and are authorised to work in the Netherlands (no visa sponsorship available)

Preferred Qualifications

• Dutch
• NetSuite experience
• A professional qualification in bookkeeping and/or accounting
• German or French
