Accounting Manager, E-Commerce

Overview

This role involves managing the month-end close process and consulting with clients on accounting deliverables. You will help assemble a monthly financial packet and present financial statements to clients.

The organization embeds as an extension of clients’ in-house finance and accounting teams, providing services such as financial planning & analysis, accounting & bookkeeping, and additional advisory support.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end closing and key accounting activities for clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets
• Own cash flow projections (and updates) and communicate cash position to clients
• Prepare monthly financial packages, including:
  • Proper margin recognition
  • Reconciling and recording transactions (Sales, Deferrals, Accruals, Returns, Discounts, Write-offs)
  • Monitoring sales orders (wholesale)
• Manage inventory accounting, including:
  • Understanding inventory fundamentals
  • Reconciling inventory (physical and sub to GL)
  • Handling accruals, samples, inventory adjustments, and obsolescence
  • Monitoring purchase orders
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Reconcile other payment accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe)
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain thorough understanding of amortization schedules
• Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Manage AR aging reports
  • Manage AP in Bill.com (or related software)
• Support payroll management for clients
• Partner with internal management to support the team
• Provide consulting support to clients on accounting-related work
• Maintain general ledger accountability, financial analysis, financial reporting, and special reports, including financial profitability analysis and other projects as assigned

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in full cycle accounting
• 2+ years of experience in a multi-client or consulting role
• Advanced experience with QBO and Xero
• Strong Excel skills
• Firm grasp of accounting principles
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Proactive, team-centric approach

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce (Shopify, PayPal, Bill.com, etc.)
