Accounting Manager

Overview

This role owns the general ledger close, technical accounting, and SOX compliance for a fast-growing technology organization. The position ensures financial statements are accurate, auditable, and compliant with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

This is a hands-on manager role responsible for leading the monthly close, driving the annual audit, resolving complex accounting issues (including revenue recognition under ASC 606, stock-based compensation, and leases), and mentoring a small team of accountants.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate US GAAP financial statements
• Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analyses; investigate and resolve variances
• Lead SOX 404 compliance, including internal controls documentation, testing key controls, and coordinating remediation with internal and external auditors
• Research and document technical accounting positions under US GAAP and SEC requirements (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718)
• Prepare and review supporting schedules for SEC filings, including 10-K and 10-Q disclosures
• Drive process automation in NetSuite (or similar ERP) to reduce manual work and improve close timelines
• Manage and develop a team of 2–4 accountants, including setting priorities and reviewing deliverables

Requirements

• 5–8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience, including 2+ years managing or reviewing others’ work
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SOX internal controls (Big 4 or national firm background preferred)
• Hands-on ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle) and strong Excel modeling skills
• Track record of improving close processes and completing audits with minimal findings
• CPA (active or in progress)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Preferred Qualifications

• SEC reporting experience at a public or IPO-track technology company
• Experience with revenue recognition for SaaS or multi-element arrangements
• Familiarity with BlackLine or FloQast
