Overview
A Clinical Research Financial Analyst position is available to perform professional accounting and financial functions related to fiscal interpretation, analysis, and reconciliation of multiple Oncology clinical trial accounts and transactions. This role involves managing complex financial portfolios to ensure accurate revenue tracking, budget performance, and compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Analyze accounting transactions and summarize the current financial position at unit or organization-wide levels.
- Compile data for decision-making, develop conclusions, and present high-level summary recommendations.
- Capture, track, and report revenue and expenses; determine appropriate accounting procedures.
- Oversee, reconcile, and resolve issues related to complex accounts.
- Collect data and research transaction details; generate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data reflecting actual performance against budgets.
- Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative analyses focusing on variances from budget and prior data.
- Maintain and review accounting process controls; recommend and implement approved modifications.
- Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation.
- Run and analyze financial reports from multiple systems; prepare management information reports.
- Execute internal control programs; research new regulations and recommend approved changes.
- Manage compliance programs and create complex compliance reports as needed.
- Contribute to unit and organizational strategy; assist with change management plans and materials.
- Participate in project teams supporting new initiatives.
- Analyze existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform system testing, and analyze results.
- Serve as a resource to local units and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
- May lead, train, coach, and review work of other staff as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus four years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in business applications such as Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and internet applications; strong computer literacy.
- Understanding and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong communication skills, capable of clearly and effectively conveying information to internal audiences and client groups.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute effectively as part of a project team.
