Controller (Remote)

Overview

This fully remote position involves serving as a Controller and acting as a financial steward for clients. The role includes leading accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, and managing internal controls. The Controller will also mentor team members and contribute to strategic planning and service expansion.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure the accuracy and integrity of clients’ financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
• Take ownership of the entire accounting function, including corporate finance, GAAP adherence, and tax compliance.
• Translate data into actionable insights to support clients’ goals and drive strategic financial planning.
• Lead the creation of budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reports with a focus on business alignment.
• Manage and guide complex financial projects, ensuring alignment with broader strategic objectives.
• Interpret and apply new accounting standards as a content expert and advisor.
• Lead delivery of team tasks to ensure timely completion, adherence to deadlines, and quality standards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support development and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement new service opportunities for existing clients.
• Drive innovation in financial systems and processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 8-10 years accounting experience
• CPA highly preferred
• Public Accounting experience highly preferred
• Experience in small privately-held, entrepreneurial companies as Controller or Assistant Controller
• Deep and solid knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, etc)
• Uncompromising sense of integrity and ethics
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and guide a remote team effectively

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $120,000 - $130,000

Additional hiring notes:

• This is a W2, full-time, 40-hour/week position.
• As part of the recruiting process, candidates will complete two short assessments (results considered as part of the overall application).
• A live accounting test via Teams Screen Share will be administered to confirm accounting skills; passing this test is a mandatory requirement.
• The employer is seeking individuals for long-term employment.
