Overview
An experienced Credit Analyst is sought to join the capital markets team, with possible work locations in Grand Rapids, MI; East Lansing, MI; or Little Chute, WI. Remote work arrangements may be considered based on qualifications. This role involves leading the credit approval process by providing expert analysis on significant loan requests, directly influencing the soundness and thoroughness of credit decisions to support the financial health of the communities served.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed examination and assessment of loan requests with high accuracy.
- Perform comprehensive financial analysis including evaluation of GAAP financial statements, sensitivity analysis of projected financial models, and compilation of comparative data using market comparables or credit standards.
- Apply the five C’s of credit (character, capacity, capital, collateral, and conditions) to assess creditworthiness.
- Prepare and present detailed loan narratives covering applicant’s capital, capacity, collateral, conditions, key risks, mitigants, and approval recommendations.
- Assist in portfolio management by monitoring company performance and loan covenants to ensure borrower compliance.
- Review legal documentation related to loan requests to ensure alignment with risk appetite and credit policies.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to support informed underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate efficient processing of customer requests through to closing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, agricultural business management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in credit analysis, underwriting, financial services, or agricultural lending.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, underwriting, risk assessment, and financial modeling for larger, complex loan requests.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
