Overview
This role requires strong financial analysis experience with merchants in the Payments or Commercial Banking industry. The Enterprise Merchant Credit Analyst is responsible for underwriting and reviewing merchant applications for credit card payment processing. The position involves detailed financial analysis to find approval solutions and drive increased submission volumes.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and review new merchant submissions, auto-approved submissions, and graduated underwriting submissions for merchant credit card payment processing services.
- Make verbal and written recommendations to management consistent with the organization's risk appetite.
- Provide sales partners with phone support and an additional layer of review to find solutions for accounts that have been pended, declined, or withdrawn.
- Conduct financial analysis to provide detailed recommendations, discussion papers, and creative risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide solution-focused reviews for high risk, restricted, and prohibited merchant submissions.
- Assist in training and developing team members, offering guidance to lower-level staff on a daily basis.
- Regularly handle high risk/high volume accounts and analyze a wide variety of applicants and business types in multiple credit card processing environments, including both card present and non-card present applicants.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of commercial underwriting or commercial risk mitigation experience in the bank card/merchant payment processing industry.
- At least 2 years of financial analysis experience with writing assessments.
- Comfortable and confident in making underwriting decisions and exercising accurate judgment in interactions with sales partners and merchants via phone and email.
- Ability to adapt priorities during peak periods to maintain consistent service levels.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to support departmental needs.

- 2 years of Sales Relationship Management experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $97,000 (varies by work location and candidate experience)
