Overview

The Analyst, Loss Analysis is responsible for quality control, auditing, and oversight of claims filed to ensure compliance with investor and insurer requirements. This role aims to assist in reducing loss exposure by providing detailed claims loss analysis reports on a weekly, monthly, or as-needed basis. When claims errors are identified, the Analyst will file supplemental claims.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct loss analysis reviews to protect servicer assets and ensure insurer compliance
  • Analyze and rebut insurer curtailments for government-insured claims, including conveyance, claims for advances, loss mitigation, and non-conveyance claims
  • Perform quality control reviews for default claims and supplemental claims to reduce loss exposure
  • Assist in compiling claims data for government audits, review auditor findings, and provide rebuttal responses
  • Complete monthly write-offs of remaining balances after all claims and supplemental funds are received
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to the claims department to ensure compliance on all claims filings
  • Correspond with vendors and site employees
  • Act as a liaison to ensure policies and procedures related to invoicing and remittance comply with federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate professional behavior, punctuality, dependability, and adherence to company policies
  • Work necessary hours to ensure success and maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of FHA, VA, and GSE claims guidelines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high accuracy
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Effective time management and task prioritization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel knowledge
  • Ability to present information effectively to supervisors and write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, policies, and procedures
  • Basic financial calculation skills
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, accounting, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, email, and internet software
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet critical departmental and federal deadlines accurately and efficiently
  • Strong work and business ethics

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in rebuttal of compensatory fees and curtailments, investor claims processing, auditing, and loss analysis reporting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth understanding of government regulations related to claims filing and reimbursement

Language and Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, workplace policies, business periodicals, professional journals, procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write professional correspondence and routine business reports
  • Effective verbal communication skills for one-on-one and small group presentations
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated base pay range: $43,000.00 - $50,000.00 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location
