Overview
The organization is seeking a Manager, Finance Integration to own the finance and accounting workstream across acquisitions—from late-stage diligence through the first close cycles after ownership. This role sits on the Corporate Controllership team and reports to the VP, Corporate Controller.
This position serves two primary clients:
- Before close: support the deal team by pressure-testing quality of earnings and forming a view on the accounting, tax, legal, and back-office exposure that diligence does not always fully capture.
- After close: become the finance integration partner on-site—standing up the opening balance sheet, converting acquired-company accounting to the organization’s processes and lead schedules, and helping teams get audit-ready alongside the network.
Responsibilities
Pre-Close: Deal Team Support
- Join the deal after LOI to support the quality of earnings process and pressure-test the accounting behind adjustments.
- Form and route an exposure view across accounting, tax, and legal (including likelihood and magnitude) to the VP of Corporate Controller, the deal team, and outside advisors as early as possible and before close where timelines allow.
- Assess the target’s back-office needs to operate efficiently inside the network across people, process, and systems.
- Track how identified risks are addressed and carry remaining risks into the integration plan.
Post-Close: Opening Balance Sheet and Purchase Accounting
- Own the collection and quality of data required by outside advisors to finalize the ASC 805 valuation and the opening balance sheet.
- Lead the balance sheet teardown at the acquired company and resolve items surfaced during diligence.
- Support net working capital true-up settlement and ensure correct recording.
Post-Close: Bringing the Company Onto the Standard
- Convert the acquired company’s accounting onto the organization’s processes, lead schedules, and reconciliation standards to achieve audit readiness alongside the rest of the network.
- Lead migration onto the organization’s accounting and control workflow platforms.
- Serve as the accessible on-site (and early-cycle) resource for accounting and finance questions.
- Document the control environment at each acquisition and identify what must be stood up first.
Framework and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and improve the documentation framework for finance onboarding of acquisitions, including playbooks, checklists, templates, and lead schedule standards.
- Improve the framework after each deal so subsequent acquisitions start further along.
- Partner with Group VPs of Finance (owners in their regions) and the M&A Integrations Manager (runs the overall integration program).
Requirements
- 8+ years in accounting or finance, with meaningful experience in acquisitions, integration, transaction services, or audit.
- Hands-on experience with business combination accounting, including:
- Opening balance sheets
- Purchase price allocation
- Working with third-party valuation specialists
- Experience with quality of earnings work or transaction diligence (buy side or advisory).
- Ability to form a view on tax and legal exposure at a target, size the risk, and know when to escalate (not required to be the tax specialist, but must recognize issues and quantify risk before others).
- Track record of standing up accounting processes that were previously informal, and of writing frameworks and templates that make them stick.
- Direct involvement in at least one accounting system implementation or migration.
- Experience with COINs, Sage Intacct, FloQast, or comparable platforms is a strong plus.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office and AI platforms (Claude or ChatGPT).
- Experience with monday.com or comparable project tooling is a plus.
- CPA is a plus, not a requirement.
- Willingness to travel; this role is built around being on-site with newly acquired companies.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification (preferred).
- Prior experience integrating multiple operating companies in a roll-up or network environment.
Key Competencies
- Hands-on accounting depth: comfortable working through business combination accounting and related questions in real time with controllers.
- Exposure assessment: can analyze and defend views across accounting, tax, legal, HR, and IT—estimating likelihood and magnitude.
- Documentation discipline: maintains and improves templates and frameworks that others can execute without being in the room.
- Ability to push standards: effective at holding the line and leading change, not just helping.
- Field presence and credibility: builds trust with operating controllers and teaches through major career transitions.
- Ownership mentality: accountable for integration outcomes, even when issues originate elsewhere.
- Systems fluency: migrates onto new platforms without losing history; understands what systems enforce versus what requires judgment.
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast pace: manages multiple deals at different stages while staying organized under high volume demands.
- Low ego, high collaboration: partners across deal team, integrations, systems, and operating leadership to build consensus.
