Finance Lead

Overview

This role involves leading the financial operations of a Bitcoin Layer 2 project focused on enhancing the utility of Bitcoin. The Finance Lead will ensure robust accounting practices and manage payroll systems for a global, distributed team operating with both fiat and cryptocurrency.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting processes including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end closing for fiat and BTC-denominated transactions.
• Oversee global crypto-to-fiat payroll, handling multi-currency distributions such as stablecoins, BTC, and local fiat currencies.
• Monitor and manage liquid assets, ensuring secure storage, efficient gas management for on-chain transactions, and timely fiat off-ramping for operational expenses.
• Implement and optimize crypto-native accounting software (e.g., Cryptio, Bitwave) to automate transaction reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with external partners to ensure compliance with international tax laws and reporting requirements related to digital asset holdings.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in finance or accounting roles.
• Proven proficiency with crypto accounting tools (e.g., Bitwave, Cryptio, Tres) and traditional accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
• Direct experience managing international payroll involving both digital assets and fiat currencies.
• Strong understanding of Bitcoin-native concepts such as UTXOs, Lightning Network, or Layer 2 scaling solutions.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the technical and cultural aspects of the Bitcoin ecosystem.
• Ability to navigate challenges between traditional banking systems and the crypto industry, especially regarding off-ramping and international transfers.
• Experience working in high-growth environments where financial processes are developed and refined from the ground up.
