Overview
This entry-level Financial Analyst role supports recurring financial reporting and analysis of revenue, expenses, budgets, forecasts, and operating performance. You will help answer questions about “plan vs. actual” outcomes by identifying drivers behind changes, validating underlying information, and communicating results with appropriate context.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods to ensure models remain understandable and reusable.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods; explain meaningful variances.
- Perform variance analysis that goes beyond reporting higher/lower numbers—identify operational or financial drivers when information allows.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Present alternative scenarios when outcomes depend on variables that may change, ensuring assumptions are visible rather than hidden inside calculations.
- Investigate and document limitations when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
Requirements
- Clear written communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind financial changes.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
