Overview
This role involves producing dependable financial analysis to support planning and informed decision making. You will maintain financial reports, compare actual results with expectations, and help communicate key performance drivers.
Analysis often begins with differences between plan and actual performance. You will identify which accounts or operating factors contributed to the movement, verify underlying information, and communicate results with appropriate context.
Responsibilities
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Conduct variance analysis beyond identifying whether a number is higher or lower, including—where the information allows—identifying operational or financial drivers and whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
- Exercise good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent by investigating sources, documenting limitations, and avoiding presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
- Clear written communication and ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind financial changes.
- Ability to manage work independently in a remote environment, including organizing tasks, responding to update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
