Salary: $66,000-$74,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Perform variance analysis by:
    • Identifying which accounts or operating factors contributed to differences between plan and actual performance.
    • Verifying underlying information.
    • Explaining results with appropriate context.
  • Go beyond stating variances by identifying operational or financial drivers when information allows, and determining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.

Requirements

  • Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind financial changes.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Ability to make assumptions visible (especially for forecasting) and present alternative scenarios when outcomes depend on variables that may change.
  • Ability to identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind results, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
  • Dependable communication and self-management while working remotely, including organizing work, responding to reasonable update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
