Overview
This role supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business performance analysis. The position is designed for someone who can work carefully with financial information and explain what the numbers mean in practical terms.
You will move between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions during the same week. Calculations must be checked, assumptions made clear, and conclusions presented in a way that supports decisions.
Variance analysis should go beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower. Where information allows, you will help identify operational or financial drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Responsibilities
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
Requirements
- Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating the source, documenting limitations, and avoiding presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
- Dependable communication and self-management in a remote setting, including organizing work, responding to reasonable update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
