Overview

This role involves working as a Financial Analyst on a remote, full-time basis within the United States. The position focuses on building and reviewing spreadsheet-based financial models, analyzing assumptions and variances, and helping stakeholders understand both what changed and why it may matter.

The work requires clear, well-documented calculations so financial models and schedules remain understandable even after the immediate task is complete.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions must be visible and supported with documentation rather than hidden inside calculations. Present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision.

Requirements

  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Organized documentation habits with an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating sources, documenting limitations, and avoiding overprecision.
