Financial Analyst

Overview

This entry-level Financial Analyst role supports recurring financial reporting and helps answer questions related to revenue, expenses, budgets, forecasts, and operating performance. Analysis often begins with understanding variances between plan and actual results—identifying which accounts or operating factors contributed to the movement, verifying underlying information, and communicating findings with appropriate context.

Responsibilities

• Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
• Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
• Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
• Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
• Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
• Present assumptions clearly in forecasting (including alternative scenarios when a single estimate could imply false precision).

Requirements

• Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
• Clear written communication skills and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
• Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
• Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing analysis.
• Organized documentation habits and appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
