Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting the organization’s financial planning and performance reporting. The position is Remote – United States and is Full Time.
Salary: $66,000–$74,000 per year.
You will organize financial information into clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are important throughout the work.
Responsibilities
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so the work remains understandable and reusable.
What You’ll Do
Assignments may include updating a forecast, reviewing actual results against a budget, preparing a management report, or testing how changes in assumptions affect expected outcomes. Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations.
You should be prepared to present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—especially when outcomes depend on variables that may change.
Requirements
- Organized documentation habits with an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
Additional expectations:
- Ensure financial models and schedules remain understandable after the immediate task is complete (clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas).
- Use good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent—investigate the source, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
- Maintain dependable communication and self-management in a remote setting, organizing work, responding with updates, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
