Overview

This Financial Analyst role is remote within the United States and supports dependable financial analysis for planning and informed decision making. Responsibilities include maintaining reporting, comparing actual results with expectations, and helping communicate key performance drivers.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations. The role may require presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate would create a false sense of precision—particularly when outcomes depend on variables that may change.

Responsibilities

  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Support improvements to recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Organize inputs, verify calculations, and summarize the most meaningful drivers.
  • As needed, update forecasts, review actual results against budget, prepare management reports, and test how changes in assumptions affect expected outcomes.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
