Overview

This role supports operational corporate finance as an Operational FP&A Analyst. You will partner with the Director of FP&A and CFO as the primary finance partner for key operating departments, managing budgets, forecasting expenses, and analyzing commercial SaaS performance. This position requires foundational accounting literacy and advanced financial modeling in Excel. It is not a business intelligence (BI), data analytics, or SQL engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly and quarterly expense-side variance analysis (Budget vs. Actuals) for assigned operating departments.
  • Partner with Accounting during the monthly close to review accruals, verify general ledger coding, and ensure forecast integrity.
  • Lead monthly budget reviews with department leaders, explain the operational “why” behind variances, and update rolling forecasts.
  • Build, maintain, and forecast dynamic headcount roster and fully burdened personnel costs (salary, bonus, taxes, benefits).
  • Partner with HR and hiring managers to track open requisitions against the approved annual operating budget.
  • Run weekly reconciliations between HRIS data and the general ledger to maintain 100% headcount cost accuracy.
  • Track and analyze core SaaS financial metrics (ARR, Net Retention Rate, CAC, Payback Period, and Gross Margin).
  • Translate financial performance and unit economics into clear executive commentary for monthly C-Suite and Board reporting decks.
  • Partner with Go-to-Market leaders to model the financial impact of hiring, quota capacity, and operational spend.
  • Support maintenance and modeling logic within the corporate planning environment (Workday Adaptive Planning).
  • Continuously refine complex financial models in Excel, eliminating manual inputs and improving forecast accuracy.
  • Execute ad-hoc financial and scenario analysis for leadership on strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA a plus).
  • 1–3 years of progressive experience in FP&A or Accounting (SaaS experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of the expense side of the P&L and other financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills; comfortable building and improving multi-tab, driver-based models.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights or similar FP&A tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proactive problem-solver who can operate without a playbook.
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communicator comfortable engaging VP- and C-level stakeholders.
  • Flexible, creative, and able to adjust quickly as priorities shift.
  • Excited about learning the mechanics of SaaS metrics and how they drive growth.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match up to 4%
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
