Remote Part Time
Est. $90K – $180K/yr

Overview

This role is a remote opportunity and represents an evergreen career profile for independent finance leaders. It is an expression of professional interest to be considered for the organization’s curated Talent Clearinghouse of fractional executives and management consultants. It does not represent a current job vacancy.

This profile focuses on a Growth and Succession Fractional CFO mandate: ongoing executive-level financial leadership on a part-time basis for privately owned businesses that are growing and preparing for transition.

Mandate

A growth and succession fractional CFO provides ongoing, strategic financial leadership on a part-time basis to one or more organizations.

This executive mandate is distinct from:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Controllership
  • Occasional advice
  • Interim cover (often full-time for a defined period)

Responsibilities (Representative Work)

Representative responsibilities include:

  • Cash-flow forecasting and financial planning to support owner decision-making
  • Management reporting that informs real decisions
  • Funding strategy, including relationships with lenders, investors, and advisers
  • Designing and strengthening financial controls and governance appropriate to business size
  • Financial preparation for, and decision support through, a succession, buyout, or financing
  • Strengthening and working through the existing finance team

Accountability & Outcomes

Deliverables within the agreed mandate may include:

  • Forecasts
  • Management reporting
  • Controls
  • Decision papers
  • Lender materials

Outcomes are achieved jointly with finance staff, operational leaders, and owners, and may include:

  • Forecast accuracy
  • Stronger cash conversion
  • Timely closes
  • Better margins

These outcomes are shared, not guaranteed.

Engagement Type (How Arrangements Vary)

No single arrangement is required. Key elements are agreed per engagement, including:

  • Time commitment
  • On-site or remote working
  • Reporting line and decision authority
  • Whether other clients are served

Fractional engagements may include working with multiple clients or a single client. A single client does not reduce the “fractional” nature of the engagement.

Related engagement options (not the same as ongoing fractional executive responsibility) may include:

  • Advisory: periodic counsel without day-to-day executive responsibility
  • Consulting: a defined finance project under a fixed-scope statement of work (e.g., preparing for a financing or designing a governance framework)

Permanent CFO appointments and full-time interim cover are considered separately through different pathways.

Growth and Succession Scope (What This Profile Is Not)

This profile is intended for businesses building value and preparing for transition, not businesses under acute liquidity, covenant, or lender pressure.

If your strongest experience is in financial stabilization or restructuring, review may consider you under other profiles instead (or in addition).

Requirements (What Is Looked For)

During curation, the organization explores evidence such as:

  • The financial leadership responsibility you have actually carried (organization/ownership context, finance team, and decisions you were authorized to take)
  • Work with owners, chief executives, boards, or family shareholders, including examples where you challenged assumptions and the results
  • Cash-flow forecasting, planning, and management reporting that informed real decisions, including how reliability was checked
  • Financial controls and governance designed or strengthened in proportion to business size
  • Relationships with lenders, investors, and advisers, including financing you led or supported
  • Contribution to a succession, management buyout, ownership transition, or financing (where relevant)
  • What you were accountable for within the agreed mandate, what you achieved jointly, and what you influenced
  • How you prioritize with limited time and how you develop or work through an existing finance team

Mandate Fit

Be prepared to describe:

  • The situations you have led and those you are preparing to lead (growth, succession/ownership transition, buyout, financing, governance formalization)
  • The arrangements you are open to: fractional, and/or related advisory and consulting options

Qualifications & Background Considerations

The organization seeks credible evidence of executive-level financial leadership. There is flexibility in how candidates gained that capability, including:

  • Titles: a CFO title is welcome but not required; responsibility carried matters more than title
  • Fractional entry route: experienced finance leaders entering fractional work are welcome alongside established fractional CFOs
  • Experience length: no fixed minimum years threshold; depth and relevance of responsibility matter more
  • Situational experience: succession, buyout, or venture-capital experience strengthens fit when client situations require it
  • Professional designations: recorded and considered alongside demonstrated capability; some client situations may call for one

Personality Analytics Requirement

  • No specific personality type is expected.
  • Personality Analytics 4.0™ measures 85 personality factors, and high-potential CFOs share approximately 15 to 23 of the same factors.
  • All members are required to meet the organization’s benchmark for high-potential management consultants.

Registration Process (How It Works)

Registration is a short process to provide essential details, function/profile, sector, and your current résumé.

Process stages described include:

  • Registration → initial review → assessment invitation → assessment → curator review → membership decision

Completing the assessment (including any payment associated with it) does not itself confer membership. A directory listing and active representation follow assessment, curator review, and acceptance.

Membership does not promise assignments, introductions, engagements, or income.

Assessment Information (As Stated)

The organization references an assessment instrument used to evaluate functional potential and leadership style.

  • The assessment is stated to predict performance potential with 85% predictive accuracy.
  • This is described as a statement about the instrument, not a guarantee or probability of success for any individual mandate.
  • Results are interpreted by a curator alongside candidate experience, achievements, and objectives.

To Register

Registration requests:

  • Essential details
  • Your function and profile focus: F01 Fractional Executive (specialist profile: Fractional CFO — Growth and Succession)
  • Your sector
  • Your current résumé

A LinkedIn profile is optional. There is no requirement to have a completed “Fractional Thesis” or “Consultant Thesis” at registration; deeper questions about authority, availability, examples, and references are gathered during subsequent curation.
