Fund Accounting Manager

Overview

This role involves managing the accounting, valuation, and financial reporting functions for over 29,000 funds administered through a leading venture fund platform. The Fund Accounting Manager will oversee fund accounting tasks that are not yet automated, resolve exceptions, address investor inquiries, and research new technical accounting issues. The position reports to senior fund accounting leadership and collaborates with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of audited and unaudited financial statements, including footnotes
• Manage the financial reporting database to ensure timely preparation, review, and delivery of reporting deliverables
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of fund audits
• Continuously improve the financial reporting control environment
• Oversee portfolio company events and data evaluation to determine appropriate investment valuations
• Ensure accounting treatments comply with US GAAP, particularly ASC 946 and ASC 820, and evaluate special situations
• Collaborate with engineering teams to increase automation of accounting processes
• Manage and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants, including offshore members

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in investment company accounting
• CPA license strongly preferred
• Experience at a public accounting firm and/or fund administrator or investment advisor in a financial reporting role
• Proficiency in US GAAP, especially ASC 946 and ASC 820
• Extensive experience preparing financial statements and footnotes for investment companies/funds
• Proven track record of improving financial reporting controls
• Experience preparing materials for and coordinating with external auditors
• Strong self-motivation, proactivity, and commitment to success
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of professional interaction with portfolio companies and lead investors

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with crypto/digital asset accounting is a plus but not required
