Overview

Role title: Investment Committee Member

Salary & status: Voluntary role. Reasonable expenses paid.

Reporting to: Board of Trustees

Location: Meetings normally held online, with occasionally in-person sessions or events across the UK.

Term: Initial term of 2 years, renewable once by mutual agreement.

Role summary

This role involves a trusted advisory contribution to how the organization directs its resources toward Muslim-led social ventures with real potential for impact. Investment Committee Members review funding recommendations, test them against the organization’s mission, and provide constructive challenge on the thinking behind each proposal.

Success in this role depends on judgment and emotional intelligence as well as technical expertise. The position calls for independence of thought, warmth, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to ask searching questions respectfully—strengthening the quality of the organization’s decision-making and deepening trust across the wider network.

Responsibilities

• Review funding recommendations and advise on their suitability.
