MRI Accountant

Overview

The organization is seeking an experienced MRI Accountant with at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the real estate or property management industry. This role involves hands-on work with MRI Software and responsibility for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements, supporting month-end close, performing reconciliations, and producing reporting for a portfolio of properties and/or corporate entities.

Note: Applicants must have real estate accounting experience using MRI for the GL Accounting Module. MRI (GL Module) experience is a MUST HAVE. Candidates with no MRI experience should not apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties using MRI Software.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under GAAP.
• Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy of general ledger entries and perform variance analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries within MRI.
• Collaborate with property managers, asset managers, and other internal teams to support operational needs.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and forecasting.
• Prepare audit schedules and support external audits.
• Stay current on industry trends and MRI software updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2 years using MRI Software.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• CA Qualified
• Experience in real estate, property management, or commercial/residential leasing.
