Overview
This full-time remote position is for a highly experienced full-service bookkeeper to manage the end-to-end finance function for a client operating in the NDIS / Disability Support Services sector in Australia. The role requires deep, hands-on experience with NDIS bookkeeping and related payroll and claims processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping in Xero, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close
- Process payroll under the SCHADS Award, ensuring correct classification, penalty rates, allowances, and pay point progression
- Administer payroll and maintain employee records using Employment Hero
- Manage NDIS claiming and payment requests through PRODA / PACE, including resolving rejected claims
- Handle rostering, timesheet, and invoicing workflows in ShiftCare
- Manage the accounts inbox, including supplier bills, invoice queries, and email correspondence
- Support BAS/IAS preparation and liaise with external accountants
- Maintain accurate records to meet NDIS audit and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of bookkeeping experience for Australian businesses, with significant experience working with NDIS providers
- Proven expertise in interpreting and applying the SCHADS Award for payroll processing
- Proficiency in Xero, Employment Hero, ShiftCare, and PRODA
- Strong understanding of the NDIS price guide, claiming rules, and billing for plan-managed, self-managed, and agency-managed participants
- Excellent written English skills and confidence in managing email communication with suppliers, participants, and plan managers
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously during Australian business hours
