Overview
This role involves building CFO-grade, repeatable financial models that support customer business cases and proposals. The models will underpin an automated sales operating model, ensuring sellers present customers with consistent and defensible financial numbers across deal sizes, products, and industries.
The work is structured in three parts:
- Identify the value: Understand how each product creates measurable value for customers.
- Build the model: Convert customer value into standardized financial models.
- Tell the financial story: Translate model outputs into clear narratives for customers, including CFOs and finance teams.
Responsibilities
Value and Financial Models
- Identify how each product creates measurable value across cost efficiency, revenue growth or protection, sustainability, and risk reduction.
- Build CFO-grade financial models for each product across the portfolio, including cash flow and P&L.
- Standardize models using common inputs and outputs so they can be repeated efficiently and consistently across accounts and products.
- Apply a consistent methodology and accounting treatment, calculating ROI, TCO, NPV, IRR, and payback the same way each time.
- Continuously improve model accuracy and develop new, financially robust ways to quantify value.
Financial Narrative
- Translate model outputs into a clear, compelling financial narrative explaining the investment impact for customers.
- Convert complex financial results into tangible measures that customers and sellers can easily relate to.
- Help sellers position business cases confidently using executive language.
Assumptions, Inputs and Governance
- Own, govern, and maintain global assumptions, benchmarks, and financial inputs feeding the models.
- Identify and add new pricing, product advances, and market trends the models need within an agreed SLA.
- Define each input’s source, owner, and refresh cadence, and maintain version history.
- Reconcile model outputs against real deals to verify accuracy over time.
Documentation and Support
- Document each model’s logic, inputs, and outputs clearly enough to be used in automated systems and tested against reference cases.
- Support Value Consultants, sellers, and sales engineers on large or complex deals where a standard model requires adaptation, including during pricing discussions.
Requirements
- 5+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate finance, investment analysis, value engineering, or management consulting (ideally at a large consulting firm, financial services company, or technology vendor).
- Strong financial analysis and modelling skills, including proficiency with cash flow, P&L, and financial accounting (including CapEx vs OpEx, depreciation, and subscription models).
- Deep knowledge of ROI and TCO, with practical experience using IRR, NPV, and payback to justify business cases.
- Ability to turn complex technical and commercial information into clear, defensible financial logic.
- Rigorous approach to assumptions, data quality, and version control.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both qualitative and quantitative business cases, including translating financial outputs into narratives for non-finance audiences.
- Experience working cross-functionally, especially with sales, product, monetisation, and platform teams.
- Self-directed, responsive, and curious, with the ability to develop new, sound ways to quantify value.
Preferred Qualifications
- A professional accounting or finance qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA, or a Master’s degree with a financial background.
- Pre-sales or commercial finance experience at a technology vendor.
- Knowledge of enterprise technology or IT infrastructure.
