Overview

A financial services organization is seeking a skilled professional to join their Bank Model Risk Management (MRM) team. This team is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and overseeing an effective MRM framework to identify, quantify, monitor, mitigate, and report on model risk. The role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally to deeply understand models that drive critical business decisions and to add value by mitigating risks related to ineffective model design or misuse.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct full-stack model validation, including rigorous, independent validations of sophisticated credit and fraud models such as machine learning and traditional statistical models, focusing on conceptual soundness, data integrity, and performance stability.
  • Develop automated, independent quantitative monitoring suites in Python to track key risk indicators (KRI), key performance indicators (KPI) drift, population stability index (PSI), and feature importance shifts in real-time.
  • Collaborate with first-line model developers to drive remediation of validation findings, ensuring models and strategies are compliant and mathematically robust.
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Internal Controls, and Compliance teams to facilitate timely resolution of audit and regulatory requests.
  • Support the internal Bank team in building out the Bank Model Risk Management function and fulfill model validation requirements for bank-owned models.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a highly technical role such as credit, fraud, or financial risk modeling, model validation, or quantitative analytics.
  • Deep understanding of the consumer credit lifecycle and/or fraud detection.
  • Technical familiarity with loss forecasting, fraud prediction, and stress-testing frameworks.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, specifically with pandas, scikit-learn, and statsmodels, for replicative modeling and backtesting.
  • Mastery of SQL for handling large-scale, distributed datasets and performing complex data lineage audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, curiosity about strategy performance, and sharp critical thinking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay grade: O
  • Equity grade: USA 12
  • Base salary range for California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut: $220,000 - $280,000
  • Base salary range for all other U.S. states: $195,000 - $255,000
