This role is a broad finance position focused on billing and revenue reporting, reporting to the VP of Finance. Responsibilities include owning billing and accounts receivable end to end—ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on time, managing collections, resolving billing questions, and running monthly revenue accounting under ASC 606.

This person will also be a key member of a small finance team that supports month-end close, forecasting, and finance systems—taking on additional priorities as the business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices from contract terms, POs, and usage data; own the billing calendar.
  • Own accounts receivable (AR), including cash application, collections, customer billing questions, and monthly aging/DSO reporting.
  • Read contracts and SOWs, understand billing mechanics, and translate them into billing and revenue schedules; flag unusual items for review.
  • Run monthly revenue recognition, including deferred and unbilled revenue schedules, entries, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain the revenue forecast by customer and revenue stream and explain variances.
  • Support the monthly close across the P&L and balance sheet, including reconciliations, accruals, flux analysis; back up teammates on AP and other areas as needed.
  • Help with budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A analysis for leadership and the board.
  • Support financial statement and statutory audits, tax filings, and diligence requests.
  • Identify and improve inefficient, manual, or messy processes; make improvements faster, cleaner, and more automated, including with AI tools.
  • Take on ad hoc finance and operations projects as priorities shift.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of accounting experience with hands-on billing and AR, plus exposure to close, reporting, or FP&A; strong Senior Accountant level.
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606; comfortable managing deferred/unbilled revenue and monthly revenue recognition for multi-element contracts.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and SOWs and recognize when matters need to be escalated.
  • Startup or scale-up experience strongly preferred (experience “wearing multiple hats” and handling billing, revenue, close, and broader finance projects in a smaller company).
  • Strong Excel skills and a systems and process mindset; desire to fix and automate what is manual.
  • Enjoys day-to-day execution (issuing invoices, chasing payments, untangling billing issues) and takes pride in accuracy and quality.
  • Self-directed and reliable with deadlines; comfortable working directly with customers and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA-track.
  • Healthcare, health system, or life sciences customer experience.
  • Experience with cloud GL and billing tools.
