Overview

This Senior Portfolio Analyst role supports the organization’s Infrastructure Finance team and the renewable energy infrastructure portfolio. Responsibilities focus on managing and monitoring complex renewable energy project finance loans, including loans for independent power projects that are under construction or operational, as well as construction bridge loans that monetize tax credits.

The position coordinates closely with Infrastructure Finance stakeholders, including Credit Underwriting, Relationship Managers, and Portfolio Strategy & Analytics across the organization’s Renewable Energy, Broadband Infrastructure, and Power & Utilities business segments.

Responsibilities

  • Support Infrastructure Finance loan performance in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Credit, Underwriters, and Relationship Managers.
  • Partner with Portfolio Strategy & Analytics and the Credit team to support strategic credit assessments aligned with business strategies and performance goals.
  • Support Portfolio Strategy & Analytics with:
    • Preparing and managing loan modification, consents, waivers, and amendment requests, including term conversion
    • Conducting legal document reviews
    • Coordinating with Loan Operations on reviewing and processing borrowing and disbursement requests
    • Gathering project information and documentation to support due diligence and assisting credit underwriters as needed
    • Assisting in the creation of management reports, including quarterly monitoring of portfolio deals and portfolio trends/statistics
  • Gather and assess industry information to understand macro impacts on the portfolio and individual transactions.
  • Interface with Underwriting to support loan acquisitions in alignment with organization policy and standards.
  • Support risk rating assessment, ongoing portfolio management, and required reviews.
  • Assist with underwriting analysis and credit approval memos when necessary.
  • Support the Managing Director of Renewable Energy with development of policies and procedures to drive efficiencies across the business.
  • Assist and support development of loan administrative, operations, and closing functions and implementation of infrastructure projects.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and individual lender visits.
  • Support organization-wide initiatives and processes to improve efficiency, productivity, sourcing, and credit quality.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients.
  • Proficiency in a computerized office environment with solid capability in MS Office applications, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Power BI, and Copilot.
  • Familiarity with and ability to become proficient with the organization’s online loan origination and servicing platforms and applications.
  • Ability to manage one or more tasks efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Fundamental understanding of finance and accounting, particularly energy finance, public accounting, banking, or related experience.
  • Self-starter mindset with high intellectual curiosity.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, engineering or related field.
  • Four to six (4–6) years of experience in finance, commercial banking, renewable energy, or other energy-related fields.

  • Typical starting salary range: $90,000–$120,000 (may vary based on experience and geography).
  • Performance-based bonus and equity-based awards.
  • Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Location

  • Washington, DC or Johnston, IA, or remote.

Work outside of core hours may be required for planned and unplanned activities to complete time-sensitive projects or to attend off-site meetings or events.
