Overview
This fixed-term Senior Reconciliation Analyst role covers a period of maternity leave and focuses on payment operations and reconciliation. You will monitor reconciliation breaks, investigate discrepancies, and partner with engineering and external banking stakeholders to ensure client balances are supported by cash held in the bank.
The environment is hands-on and fast-moving, with priorities that can shift day to day. While routine reconciliation is the core focus, there is also opportunity to contribute to automation projects after you ramp up.
Responsibilities
- Own daily reconciliation monitoring by checking that cash held in the bank matches client balances in internal systems, and flagging and investigating mismatches
- Resolve reconciliation breaks end-to-end, determining whether issues are internal (engage engineering) or external (liaise directly with banks and third-party payment providers) and driving issues to resolution
- Support reporting and month-end close, including vendor and regulatory reporting and other recurring reporting cycles with high accuracy
- Work across data tools, using Excel alongside data visualization tools such as Databricks and Metabase (Tableau/Power BI experience also welcome) to monitor and track reconciliation data
- Contribute to automation by helping automate manual reconciliation processes over time, reducing reliance on spreadsheets
- Handle occasional manual money transfers with strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Manage stakeholders across the business, partnering with engineering, treasury, and external banking partners to keep processes running smoothly
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in reconciliation, payment operations, or treasury operations (e.g., reconciliation specialist, payment analyst, or accountant with reconciliation exposure)
- Comfortable with Excel, with some experience using data visualization/BI tools (Databricks, Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Working understanding of payment schemes and how money moves between banks and internal systems, including knowing who to involve when items do not reconcile
- Diligent and detail-oriented when handling money movements
- Able to adapt to fast-paced environments with frequently changing priorities and processes
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence communicating with internal teams and external partners (e.g., banks)
- Ability to start immediately or on very short notice
- Open to a fixed-term contract (~5 months), with a real possibility of extension depending on business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a neobank or fintech (e.g., N26 or similar)
- Mathematical or quantitative background
- Prior experience helping build or improve automations within a reconciliation or payments workflow
- Basic SQL or data analysis skills
