Overview

This fixed-term Senior Reconciliation Analyst role covers a period of maternity leave and supports payment operations at the heart of reconciliation processes.

You will monitor reconciliation breaks, investigate discrepancies, and partner with engineering and banking stakeholders to ensure balances are backed by cash in the bank. The environment is fast-moving, with shifting priorities.

Once you are up to speed, there is also room to contribute to automation initiatives to reduce reliance on manual processes. The role may be a stepping stone to other teams longer-term.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily reconciliation monitoring, ensuring cash held in the bank matches client balances in internal systems and investigating any breaks or mismatches
  • Resolve reconciliation breaks end-to-end by determining whether issues are internal (involving engineering) or external (liaising with banks and third-party payment providers)
  • Maintain reporting and month-end close, supporting vendor reporting, regulatory reporting, and other recurring reporting cycles with high accuracy
  • Work across data tools using Excel and data visualization platforms (Databricks, Metabase, or similar; Tableau/Power BI experience also welcome) to monitor and track reconciliation data
  • Contribute to automation efforts by gradually automating manual reconciliation processes using AI and other tools
  • Handle occasional manual money transfers with accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Manage stakeholders across the business, collaborating with engineering, treasury, and external banking partners to keep processes running smoothly

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in reconciliation, payment operations, or treasury operations (e.g., reconciliation specialist, payment analyst, or accountant with reconciliation exposure)
  • Comfortable working with Excel and experience with data visualization/BI tools (Databricks, Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
  • Working understanding of payment schemes and how money moves between banks and internal systems
  • Diligence and strong attention to detail, particularly when handling money movements
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence communicating with internal teams and external partners (e.g., banks)
  • Ability to start immediately or on very short notice
  • Open to a fixed-term contract (~5 months, with a real possibility of extension depending on business needs)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working at a neobank or fintech (e.g., N26 or similar)
  • Mathematical or quantitative background
  • Prior experience building or improving automations within a reconciliation or payments workflow
  • Basic SQL or data analysis skills
