SOC Analyst

Overview

This role supports an early-stage investment team by evaluating potential investments and helping maintain relationships with founders and portfolio companies. The work blends market and company research with analysis of business models and the communication of findings to the team. It also includes ongoing portfolio engagement as the organization builds its understanding of evolving industries.

Responsibilities

• Source and research companies, markets, technologies, and emerging industry trends relevant to the investment strategy
• Conduct preliminary assessments of prospective investments, including:
  • Market size
  • Customer needs
  • Competitive dynamics
  • Business models
  • Team backgrounds
  • Growth potential
• Build and maintain analytical materials, research summaries, company profiles, and presentation materials to support internal discussions and investment decisions
• Participate in conversations with founders, subject-matter experts, and ecosystem partners by:
  • Capturing key insights
  • Following up professionally
• Support due diligence by organizing information, identifying questions, and coordinating input from relevant stakeholders
• Monitor developments across portfolio companies and sectors and help prepare updates that inform ongoing work
• Maintain accurate records of research and interactions, handle confidential information responsibly, and contribute ideas that improve team processes and market knowledge

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, economics, engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Strong research and quantitative skills
• Ability to interpret financial and operating information
• Interest in technology-enabled businesses
• Ability to form and explain a reasoned point of view, ask thoughtful questions, and adapt analysis as new information becomes available
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while working effectively with a small team
• Proactive, respectful approach to working with founders and colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in venture capital, investment banking, consulting, startups, product, or another analytical business role
