Sr. Accounting Manager

Overview

A well-established organization in the insurance industry is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead a business-critical accounting team during a period of continued growth. This role oversees approximately 6–8 accounting professionals and owns key accounting functions, including month-end close, US GAAP financial reporting, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).

This position is currently fully remote, but candidates must reside in the DFW area.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage an accounting team of approximately 6–8 professionals
• Own month-end close activities
• Lead US GAAP financial reporting
• Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
• Proactively identify, assess, and communicate potential accounting issues
• Perform and/or oversee account reconciliations with extensive hands-on involvement
• Provide leadership through clear direction, performance management, coaching, and ongoing training
• Build effective working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Active CPA certification required
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within the insurance sector
• At least 3 years of experience managing and leading accounting teams
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and US GAAP
• Ability to proactively identify, assess, and communicate potential accounting issues
• Extensive hands-on experience with account reconciliations
• Proven leadership capability to oversee, mentor, and develop accounting professionals
• Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across functions
