Overview

This role involves joining a Credit Risk team focused on developing and implementing credit and fraud strategies within an online lending marketplace. The team uses advanced analytics and machine learning models to optimize automated credit decisions and manage risk effectively. The position offers the opportunity to apply strong analytical skills to innovate and improve risk strategies that keep the marketplace competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Develop credit and fraud strategies to improve credit performance using data, machine learning models, and advanced analytics tools
  • Design and analyze A/B tests to evaluate risk and customer experience trade-offs
  • Innovate by testing new data sources, analytics approaches, and models
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Engineering, and other teams to implement and validate credit and fraud prevention strategies
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses related to risk management, product, and operations
  • Analyze portfolio performance at a granular segment level on an ongoing basis
  • Identify trends and perform root-cause analysis to isolate key performance drivers
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to Risk Management and broader stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics
  • 3+ years of experience with a Master’s degree or 5+ years with a Bachelor’s degree managing credit risk, fraud, or data science in the consumer lending industry; experience with consumer personal loans or credit cards is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; experience with DBT and Looker is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information to team members and senior management
  • Knowledge of segmentation, statistical procedures, and financial analytic tools
  • Curiosity and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Strong ownership and motivation to drive business results
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity
  • Candidates without financial services experience but with strong technology and analytical skills will also be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer personal loan or credit card lending
  • Familiarity with DBT and Looker analytics tools
